The core support scheme is the employee support mechanism. The program ensures the partial coverage (60%) of the loss of income, in case of reduced employment (Syn-Ergasia program) until 31/12/2020. Similar programs are already in place across the EU, especially in Northern Europe, providing significantly greater support for payroll costs. The measures, therefore, must continue and evolve. It is necessary to extend their validity, until the beginning of the tourist season of 2021.
Regardless of the above mentioned measures, AEGEAN, will utilize the 'COVID-19 Enterprise Guarantee Fund', accessible to all Greek companies, by submitting distinct loan requests to the 4 Greek banks: Alpha Bank, EUROBANK, National Bank and Piraeus Bank. According to the horizontal guidelines of this program, the state guarantee is set at 80%, for loans lasting up to 5 years and up to 25% of the annual turnover. We will apply for a total amount of 150 million euros, equal to only 11% of our turnover.

Technical Base
In Aegean Airlines we operate three Technical Bases in Greece, located in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion. The main technical base is located at Athens International Airport 'E. Venizelos' and it is constituted of two hangars and the greater number of technicians.
At Building 57 of Athens International Airport there is one more hangar which covers the needs of Olympic Air's fleet maintenance, consisting of DASH 8 Q400 and DASH 8-100.
During the summer months, we operate five extra bases located in Rhodes, Corfu, Kos, Kalamata and Chania, with engineers from Athens base, in order to serve the increased passenger capacity.
Aegean Airline's Technical Base- Hangar at Athens International Airport 'E.Venizelos' was launched in January 2009 and it is an ambitious project, which covers an area of more than 4,800 sq. meters and can fit up to two Airbus A-321s, the largest type of aircraft in Aegean's fleet.

The technical base has been constructed according to the modern specifications and equipment. It comprises of several sections, carefully designed to guarantee maximum efficiency. The maintenance is divided in two parts. The 'heavy' maintenance (or base maintenance) includes the major inspections-controls, for which special facilities and staff are required. The duration of this type of maintenance is 9 to 10 months and it is usually made after the summer months and before the next summer season.
The second part is called line maintenance and operates 12 months yearly, 24 hours daily. The tasks of line maintenance include the scheduled maintenance-inspection of the aircraft, of the engines and the systems of the aircraft, of the replacement of the engines and of the restoration of damages.

The technical staff is trained regularly according to the legislation and also with additional trainings for improving communication skills, teamwork, company goals and maintenance efficiency.
In addition to that, the new Technical Base is equipped with an advanced technologically automated firefighting system, capable of detecting and preventing a possible fire break out. Also, COMBI system is used on aircraft under maintenance to provide electrical power, compressed air and water in case of fire. What's more, there is an Electrical Emergency Generator unit in the unlike event of outages.
In September 2008, Aegean received the ISO 14001:2004 verification, for the implementation of the Environmental Management System for Passenger Services - Aircraft Services/Maintenance, regarding waste management control. In particular, in the new hangar a waste control system is in place, collecting all waste in specially designed tanks to keep the ground water levels clean and unpolluted.
For two years now, the technical department offers to new trainees of TEI Chalkidas the opportunity to participate to internships.
